All of the problems below can generally be fixed by restarting the device. If you can still navigate through the settings, follow the steps below to restart the Fire TV Cube. After approximately 10 seconds, you should turn the Fire TV back on to see if the update can finish. One reason why the update cannot finish is because all Fire TV updates require a device restart to finalise the update.
You should be prompted to do this with a message. This is easy to forget if you keep the Fire TV on for extended periods of time. When the screen freezes, it is generally from a bug in the system which is causing the Fire TV to glitch. These are fixed with firmware updates, so you will need to persist with restarting the device to get that update installed.
The Cube may also be overheated, causing another glitch. This will occur if the Fire TV is located in an enclosed area, such as a glass TV cabinet, if it is too close to another device or if it is in direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
In this instance you will need to turn off the device until it has cooled down and consider shifting its position. If simply restarting the Fire TV does not help with the issue, you might want to perform a factory reset. However, this will delete your account information and all the content you have downloaded since you got the Fire TV. This is quite simple. You might also find that the download for the latest update does not finish. It can reach a certain point and not go any further for days.
This could be a glitch or from overheating, as mentioned above, but the best thing to do is to restart your Fire TV cube. It may also be that you have run out of space halfway through the download.
The Fire TV will usually be able to detect if there is not enough space before the download, but refer to the information earlier in this article to double-check your storage space. This issue seems to be relatively common and could be related to any of the issues discussed above. If the Cube lights up after voice command test, but you do not hear a response, clearly say "Alexa, I cannot hear you.
Disconnect the receiver and reconnect correctly if necessary. Make any changes necessary and troubleshoot again. If you have an HDMI cord connecting your Cube to your TV, make sure the cord is connected correctly, disconnect and then reconnect if needed. It may be necessary to use a different HDMI cable if yours is damaged or broken. If none of the above suggestions work, try replacing the Fire TV Cube speaker using this speaker replacement guide. Make sure the batteries you put in the remote are working correctly by putting batteries in another device to see if they work.
You may need to replace the old batteries with new batteries. Replace the batteries using this battery replacement guide.
Make sure the batteries you put in the remote are fully charged by putting the batteries in another device to see if they work. If you have more than seven remotes and Bluetooth devices on, turn the ones you aren't using off. This will help the remote have a better time connecting to the Cube.
Don't place the Cube in a closed off space such as a cabinet. Move the Cube away from the TV to limit interference. Press and hold Home button for 10 seconds. Remote should take about a minute connect with Cube. While the Fire TV Cube is off, reset the remote by pressing and holding the home button, back button, and the left side of the navigation ring all at the same time.

Huge thanks for this wonderful assistance! May the wind be at your back. Never mind — it looks like I was just being a little impatient. It just took a few minutes to kick in.
Thanks very much! Everything works up until the Install. Same thing happening here. Have you found an answer to this?
And they are all the wrong version. When I click download box it redirects to WHOcovid information. I was able to sideload over a month ago, everything was working great till about a week ago. Now it lets me log in through hbomax.
I tried the following 1. Log out and back in 2. Use other apk and install. Log out of other apps like amazon. Search for other downloads and install. What do I do next? I think everything works now, thank you very much!!! Down side it says MUL. Message says Audio Code: mpeg Hardware accelerator, etc then below that is Video and those settings. This message even overlays the screensaver. Thank you so much for this! I was installing for the first time and having the same issue.
I also loaded the original APK from bit. Trying to install HBO Max. We get to where you put in the address, it starts to download and a box comes up with install at the bottom but it will not install.
I did everything exactly in your instructions and I have the icon. Each time I click the icon it just goes to my home screen.
Every time. The app will not open. Okay it opened. What do I do. Lessons learned: 1. I installed on two TVs. Not a big deal. But strange. Did not have this issue on the other TV. I have tried this 4 times. Deleted all versions of HBO from Amazon app store and all fire sticks.
Am able to use downloader and get HBOMax in my apps. Am able to log on and browse. But when I select something to watch, it takes me to set up your free HBO trial or sign into your account with Google Play.
Not sure what I am missing. I was able to get HBO max on 2 of my fire sticks, but not the 3rd. Internet connection is not the issue as all other apps are up and running perfectly. Can you help? It takes me to a page which tells me to sign in via hbomax. Any way to fix this? Hi and thanks for the very helpful instructions. Then of course it disappears from there if I watch a bunch of other shows that take its place in Recents.
I did all the steps you mentioned to prepare. Tried twice and same result. I watched a YT video that notes the same problem and says to just launch it from the Settings location, which afaic is a pain. Any thoughts?
